EISA’s Executive Director was invited to write a journal article for the South African Institute for International Affairs (SAIIA). This for SAIIA’s special edition (SAJIA Vol 30.3) entitled “Safeguarding Election Management Bodies in the Age of Democratic Recession”. The edition was guest edited by Toby James (University of East Anglia), Khabele Matlosa (former EISA Director of Programmes) and Victor Shale (former EISA Zimbabwe Country Representative).
This particular edition was written in response to a worring trend of coups that has been observed in the past few years in various countries including Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Chad, Sudan, and Niger.
