Tom Brady, having recently become a minority shareholder of the Las Vegas Raiders, is rumoured to be eyeing his former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Brady, alongside business partner Tom Wagner, has been unanimously approved as an owner of the Raiders, securing a 10 per cent stake in the NFL franchise. Despite the Raiders’ valuation exceeding $7billion, the duo managed to get their share at a bargain by investing around $220million.

With a swift transition from NFL player to FOX broadcaster and now to NFL owner within just 18 months, Brady is anticipated to wield considerable influence over the team’s operations. The future of current head coach Antonio Pierce remains uncertain, and sports podcaster Kirk Minihane has hinted at a possible shake-up.

“People have told me that Brady’s first move is going to be asking Bill Belichick if he’s interested in being the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders,” he said on The Kirk Minihane Show. “Two sources have told me that. Two high-ups in the Patriots organization have told me that.”

Belichick, 72, took the helm of the Patriots back in 2000, the same year Brady was drafted, and together they clinched six Super Bowl titles before Brady’s departure in 2020 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brady and Belichick, who left the New England Patriots at the end of last season, have both seen their careers take unexpected turns. Belichick has been a regular on ‘Manningcast’, an alternate coverage for ‘Monday Night Football ‘, where he chats with NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning about the live action.

Despite being keen to find a new coaching role in the offseason, Belichick remained unsigned. However, in September, it was reported that he’s open to a head coaching role in 2025, but only if the right opportunity comes along.

The legendary coach has earned the right to be picky and has made it clear that he hasn’t hung up his coaching boots just yet. If Brady were to advocate for the Raiders to hire Belichick and the coach sees Las Vegas as a viable option, it could lead to a sensational reunion.

However, Belichick would likely have some conditions, especially considering the Raiders’ current 2-4 season and their recent trade of star wide receiver Davante Adams to the New York Jets. Adams has reunited with quarterback Aaron Rodgers after spending eight seasons together at the Green Bay Packers.

The trade has freed up significant space on the Raiders’ salary cap, as Adams was in the third year of his five-year, $130m contract. Whether or not Belichick ends up in Las Vegas, it’s expected to be a busy offseason for the Raiders.
