Louis Rees-Zammit hasn’t ruled out a return to the rugby but insisted his full focus remains on making it in the NFL.
Having spent nearly 10 months transforming into an American football prospect, he got his shot with the current Super Bowl champs, Kansas City Chiefs, after completing a 10-week program on the International Player Pathway.
Despite being released by the Chiefs, Rees-Zammit was picked up by the Jacksonville Jaguars and continues to hone his skills with the Florida-based team.
However, Rees-Zammit is yet to play a single snap in the league, remaining on the club’s practice squad. That included the two games the Jags played in London, losing to the Chicago Bears and beating the New England Patriots.
And during an interview on Danny Care’s podcast, the 23-year-old former Wales international admitted he misses rugby “a little bit”, refusing to close the door on a sensational return in the future.
He also revealed that he’s been keenly following Gloucester’s season, indicating rugby might still be on his horizon: “I’ve watched every game of Gloucester’s this year, so it’s not something that’s like completely off the table.”
However, for now, Rees-Zammit defiantly claimed that making it big in the NFL is his main desire. He added:”This is my dream, I’m chasing this dream as far as I can and I’m working so hard every day to make this happen. So I’m not really thinking about rugby too much to be honest with you.”

He admits missing rugby but remains laser-focused, Wales Online reports: “I enjoy watching it, I miss it a little bit but at the same time this is my full goal and dream to make it in the NFL. I’m trying to work as hard as I can to make this dream a reality.”
After watching his new team-mates play in London on two occasions, Rees-Zammit also threw his weight behind a future game being played in Cardiff. “It would be unbelievable to have one in the Principality Stadium. It would be great to expand it outside London.”
“It allows the fans around the UK [to experience it]. It would be great to expand it outside London.”
