Jon Rahm’s caddie is believed to have pocketed a cool £2.2 million, following the Spaniard’s successful start to life on the LIV Golf circuit.

Rahm, who became one of LIV’s biggest signings 13 months ago, ditched the PGA Tour for the breakaway league in a deal rumoured to be worth a whopping £450 million. The Spaniard then only added to his earnings, clinching two LIV titles in the UK and Chicago, before being crowned the league’s individual champion.

His victories banked him £3.1 million ($4m) on both occasions, and after securing the year-long title in September, Rahm earned a tidy £14 million ($18m) bonus for his efforts.

Throughout his season with the LIV setup, the four major championships, and three recent starts on the DP World Tour, Rahm raked in a cool £26.7 million ($35.5m) in collective prize money. Naturally, his caddie Adam Hayes also benefited, taking his own cut of the payouts.

The topic of caddie pay has always been a point of discussion in the world of golf, and now one PGA Tour looper, Bryan Kopskick, has shed light on the matter. Kopskick, who works with Ben Silverman, revealed on social media that he pockets eight percent of Silverman’s tournament earnings, which saw him earn just under £78,000 ($101,007.92) from his player’s £973,694.20 prize money.

Silverman’s aide also disclosed that he gets an extra £1,542 ($2,000) for every event they team up for. Using the eight percent rule of thumb, it appears that Jon Rahm’s trusted caddie Adam Hayes could have pocketed a cool £2.2 million ($2.8m) for his role on the bag. support.

Caddies at the top level do much more than just carrying the bag, playing a key role in their player’s game. Rahm, after clinching a whopping £17 million in Chicago this September, opened up about the crucial role his caddie played, especially when feeling the nerves ahead of his final round.

“You know, today was a special day in many ways,” he reflected post-victory. “I woke up really nervous today, as I thought I would, and even warming up, I told Adam, man, I’m nervous. But then I started thinking, playing with Sergio [Garcia] and Brooks Koepka], last time both me and Sergio played good, it was a good Sunday in Valderrama.

“Sergio ended up winning. The last time I went up against Brooks, he ended up beating me. I wanted to hopefully do a really good showing this time and maybe get it over the line. Just really happy to have played as good as I did.”
