Robert Lewandowski’s wife has revealed the extent of the flooding at their home as areas of Spain continue to be hit hard by the weather.

Heavy rainfall and flash flooding have hit several regions of Spain particularly hard. The area around Barcelona is now being hit, with more rainfall forecast.

Lewandowski’s £3.3million home, which he and his wife Anna lived in, presided in the prestigious neighbourhood of Castelldefels – 15 miles west of Barcelona along the coast. Anna has shared a video on her Instagram, which is believed to have shown their flooded garage.

She attempted to dip her toe into the water before also showing the level of flooding on the street nearby. The water doesn’t look to have spread into the house. Anna also shared a clip of the devastating impact of the floods, with a car almost fully submerged.

Valencia, situated further down the east coast, has been hit the hardest of all the major cities. At least 2017 people have died as a result of the flood with the extent of the devastation underlined by picture of homes, car and buildings that have all been wrecked.

Valencia was due to host the season finale of the 2024 MotoGP but that has now been moved to Catalunya so that the full focus of resources can be put into aiding the recovery response. However the areas in and around Barcelona are now feeling the full force of the extreme weather conditions.

Trains have been cancelled, more than 80 flights have been delayed or cancelled whilst some major roads are currently closed. Residents are being told not to travel unless it is “strictly necessary”.

The chief of Spain’s Military Emergencies Unit (UME) said on Monday that it had pre-deployed 500 troops to Valencia so they could begin working as soon as they were authorised to.

General Francisco Javier Marcos said that when he saw that the situation was continuing to get worse, he sent alerts to 1,000 soldiers, who travelled overnight “so that by dawn the next day, people of Valencia could see that the armed forces were there”.
