Viktor Gyokeres is a man in demand – and that demand only increased when he scored a Champions League hat-trick to see off Manchester City.
The Sporting Lisbon star has shone ever since swapping Coventry City for the Portuguese capital. An impressive season in the Championship with the Sky Blues saw Ruben Amorim come calling and now a player who cost around £20million is set to command at least four times that.
Sporting have been resigned to losing their best players, especially during the period where they’ve become the best team in Portugal. The likes of Manuel Ugarte have moved on, ending up in Manchester via PSG.
The club now face a battle to retain their Swedish centre forward, who is now broadcasting his talents on the grandest of stages. As a result some of Europe’s finest outfits are keeping tabs on the striker.
Amorim himself confessed that Gyokeres’ “life will probably go somewhere else” once the summer comes round with offers likely to come his way. It will be a choice of where he wants to go coupled with who is prepared to cough up the most money.
Sporting will be eyeing a record sale and we take a look at the destinations he could end up at.
Man Utd
The obvious choice is going to be following Amorim to Old Trafford. Gyokeres’ agent made it known that the Swede chose to play for Sporting largely because of the manager, turning down offers from elsewhere to play under the 39-year-old coach.
United’s issues in the final third underline their need for more firepower and Amorim is likely to put in a good word on the Swede’s behalf. Finances are unlikely to be an issue for the Manchester outfit, who are inevitably going to be linked with some of Sporting’s top players.

The one question they might have is where does that leave Rasmus Hojlund. Amorim’s system has not lent itself to play with two natural strikers and it may be a case of one or the other. Just over a year ago United invested £72m in the Dane, knowing he was a long-term project, and shelving that would be a major failure.
Chelsea
The Blues have hardly been shy in the transfer market under their current ownership. Even in the summer they were linked with some of Europe’s premier marksman, the likes of Victor Osimhen, before eventually opting to stick with what they had at Stamford Bridge.
When a big player has come on the market though they’ve rarely not thrown their hat into the ring and its reported that Chelsea will be in the hunt for Gyokeres. After years of being mocked for their recruitment and underachieving it looks as if things are coming together.
Nicolas Jackson has begun to come good in west London, but is far from the finished article. Gyokeres would certainly be an upgrade and it will be a case of deciding whether or not to invest in the Swede.
Real Madrid
A club that few people turn down and Gyokeres could be left with a decision to make in the summer should Los Blancos come calling. From a personal point of view the Sporting star would need answers on where he fitted into an already stellar frontline.

Kylian Mbappe was seen as the final piece of the jigsaw when he joined up with Vinicius Jnr and Rodrygo in the summer. It hasn’t clicked though and the Frenchman has, so far, underwhelmed at the Bernabeu with Real struggling for form and results.
Jamie O’Hara told Grosvenor Sport: “He might end up at Real Madrid – they really need a centre-forward at the moment. They’ve signed Kylian Mbappe from PSG and he’s just not doing the business for them up front. They’ve fallen off a lot this season.”
Bayern Munich
The last time the Germans invested in a striker they weren’t disappointed and Gyokeres is as close to a guarantee you’ll find in Europe right now. Their interest has already been reported and Bayern are known to be shrewd operators in the market.
They will be motivated to get themselves back to the top of Europe having fallen off in recent years. Harry Kane has been an inspired purchase but by the summer he’ll be half way through his contract and approaching in 32nd birthday. Gyokeres is approaching his peak and Bayern can plan for the future by adding one of the continent’s top marksman.
