Follow the Bear in the Livescore Bet Wentworth Stakes.
THUNDERBEAR (1.20) loves soft ground and he will get his conditions in this Listed contest.
Jack Davison’s Irish raider won a Group 3 at Newbury last autumn but he has mostly struggled on ground faster than ideal this year.
His second behind smart My Mate Alfie in a Naas Listed race last month was not far off his very best and everything looks in place for a big run with Rossa Ryan in the saddle. Have 1pt each-way at 20-1.
The Virgin Bet November Handicap is the traditional big race on the final day of turf racing and you’d have to be mad to miss INSANITY (3.45).
He made a winning return at Windsor in April and continued his progress when successful at Ascot’s Shergar Cup meeting.
His subsequent York effort could be considered disappointing but the race might well have come too soon and that track probably doesn’t play to his strengths.
He’s had a break since that run and he does seem to appreciate a bit of time between his races. Have 1pt each-way at 16-1. Sky Bet is paying out on seven places.
The Boyle Sports Grand Sefton Chase is the first race of the season over Aintree’s National fences and IDALKO BIHOUE (2.40) looks a good bet to continue the good form of Nigel Twiston-Davies’ stable.
He was impressive at Cheltenham early last season when ridden prominently but he was only seen twice more.
There’s every chance he is capable of much better this season. As a six-year-old, he could easily have improved a good chunk over the summer.
His style of racing is suited to the Grand National course and decent ground holds no fears. Have 2pts each-way at 10-1. Most bookies are going four places.
Dorset trainer Anthony Honeyball won last year’s Badger Beer Chase and he throws three more darts at Wincanton’s annual ‘brock-buster’ this time.
FORWARD PLAN (3.30) looks the best of them and that should be good enough to see him home in front.
He thrived in competitive handicaps last season. His victory in the Coral Trophy at Kempton in February showed he has all the tools for a race like this. Have 2pts each-way at 10-1. A couple of firms are paying four places.
