Artur Beterbiev has thrown his hat in the ring to Jake Paul following his stunning win against Mike Tyson.
The YouTuber turned fighter defeated the legendary boxer by unanimous decision in Arlington over the weekend. And attention has now turned to Paul’s next bout.
A further fight deal has yet to be signed but it appears that current undisputed light-heavyweight world champion Beterbiev fancies his chances. Taking to Instagram, he publicly called out the American.
He wrote: “@jakepaul what can you do in ring against the current undisputed champion? Just know that I’m always open to any suggestions.”
The 39-year-old would arguably be Paul’s toughest-ever opponent. He currently holds the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO titles after 21 career fights, 20 of which by knockout.
Beterbiev’s latest outing saw him defeat Dmitry Bivol in Saudi Arabia by majority decision earlier this year. It was expected that the duo would face off once more next year but a rematch is in major doubt after the IBF demanded the mandatory challenger for that particular belt next – German Michael Eifert.
Under IBF rules, a deal has to be thrashed out between the pair within 30 days or he risks being stripped of his belt. As it stands, no deal has been announced.
And while Beterbiev is eyeing a clash with Paul at some point in the near future, it appears that the latter has other things on his mind. Speaking after his victory against Tyson, he claimed that he was going to take on Canelo Alvarez for a cruiserweight title before making an anticipated debut in MMA.

“It’s Canelo,” he said. “Me vs. Canelo at 200lb for the cruiserweight championship of the world is the biggest fight, arguably even bigger than me vs. Tyson, and it makes so much sense. Canelo is on his way out.
“He’s going to want a payday and I want to show the world all the stuff I’ve been talking about beating Canelo is actually true and I’ll have the biggest upset in the history of boxing. We’ll fight to really see who is the face because after this event, I’m going to be claiming it.”
With Paul already eyeing his next fight, his beaten opponent Tyson has already started putting plans in place. The 58-year-old has refused to hang up his gloves, calling out Jake Paul’s brother Logan instead.
“I don’t think so,” he replied when asked if his loss against Paul could be his final fight. “It depends on the situation. I don’t think so, I don’t know, maybe I’ll fight his brother [Logan Paul].”
