Max Verstappen sits inches away from a fourth Drivers’ Championship, which will only add to his personal fortune and lavish lifestyle.

Since making his cacophonous arrival on the Formula One scene in 2016, the shrewd Dutchman has taken the bull by its horns and has not relented. He enters Las Vegas with an almost unreconcilable advantage.

If he finishes above closest rival Lando Norris or neither driver scores points, the title is his. Even if McLaren’s Brit pips Verstappen, he would need to finish miles clear and secure the fastest lap of the race to keep the hunt alive.

With the championship all but wrapped up, to be won either in Nevada or beyond, Mirror Sport takes a look at what Verstappen’s life is like behind the scenes with girlfriend Kelly Piquet.

What is Max Verstappen’s net worth?

With three titles to his name and a fourth on the horizon, it is no surprise that Verstappen has amassed a personal fortune from his time in Formula One.

On the track, as well as off it through brand deals and endorsements, the Dutchman has been raking it in, and, according to Celebrity Net Worth, he’s sitting on a sum just north of £70million. Some estimates actually state that his wealth tops the £150m mark.

Verstappen is also the highest-paid driver in F1, and his Red Bull contract runs until 2028. Alongside his £43.5m ($55m) base salary, he is in the process of founding his own GT team from 2025.

Who is Max Verstappen’s girlfriend?

Verstappen went public with his relationship with Brazilian model Kelly Piquet, the daughter of three-time world champion Nelson, in 2021. The Dutchman will aim to surpass his girlfriend’s father in Las Vegas, potentially leapfrogging his title total.

The 35-year-old had previously been involved with another driver, Russian Daniil Kvyat – who Verstappen replaced on the grid in 2016 when given the chance by Red Bull.

Both Kvyat and Piquet welcomed a child in 2019, their daughter named Penelope, whom Verstappen now helps look after and acts as a guardian for.

What is Max Verstappen’s car collection?

As would be expected of such a prolific driver, cars have taken a stranglehold on not only Verstappen’s professional life, but his personal life also.

Verstappen stores a priceless collection of vehicles in his sparkling garage. Swiss newspaper Blick reported that the 27-year-old bought a £325,000 Porsche 911 GT3 RS after winning his first-ever race in 2016.

A 2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie, designed by Red Bull’s Adrian Newey, is also rumoured to be in his possession, with him being spotted in the passenger seat of one – a standard 2024 model of which sells for between £2.75m and £3.1m. A range of Ferrari’s also bless his collection.

What property does Max Verstappen own?

With an ever-growing fortune to his name, Verstappen would be expected to have put some of it towards a luxurious homestead, but that’s not the case.

Instead, the Dutch star rents his penthouse, which, like many F1 drivers including seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, is situated in the principality of Monaco, avoiding income tax.

Perhaps an indication that Verstappen does not intend to live in the region for long, the rented property features an indoor gym and a stunning balcony with view of the Mediterranean – which the Dutch ace can often be seen riding a jet ski on.

When will Max Verstappen retire?

Though he already has little to prove to anyone within the sport, a fourth world title would cement Verstappen even further as one of the greatest drivers to have taken to an F1 track.

Speaking to the Podpah podcast, the Dutchman revealed: “I love what I do, but I’ve already achieved what I wanted to achieve personally.”

Should Verstappen decide that he has achieved and won enough, we could see him put down his gloves much earlier than expected and call it quits in his early 30s.

This coincides with the view that he could leave the sport upon the expiry of his current deal in 2028, which the driver himself has backed up, saying: “I don’t know yet what I will do after 2028. But what I can say is that my next step, if there is one, will be my last in Formula One.”
