After 20 years at Manchester United, Marcus Rashford could be on his way out of the club in 2025 after admitting he’s “ready for a new challenge.”

The 27-year-old looks set to cut ties with his boyhood club after a gradual decline at Old Trafford in recent years. The club would be offloading one of their highest earners in the event they decide to offload the player.

Rashford’s personal life has been scrutinised over the course of his United career and was particularly criticised over his partying in Belfast last season. The forward’s dating life has also become a topic of interest to fans, many of whom want to see the player thrive for club and country.

The jury is out as to where Rashford could land in the event he does depart Old Trafford at some point next year. And Mirror Sport breaks down the attacker’s net worth and relationship status ahead of a potential crossroads in his career.

Net worth

As the longest-serving member of the current United squad, Rashford has built up a considerable reputation over the course of two decades at the club. And his contributions were recognised when he put pen to paper on a new £300,000-a-week contract just last year.

That’s worth around £15.6million per year, though Rashford’s wages only account for some of his estimated £64m net worth. The two-time FA Cup winner has built his fortune partly through endorsements with brands like Nike, BT Sport, Microsoft and Burberry, attracting some of the biggest names as sponsors.

Rashford’s huge wages are expected to be an issue for United next year if they try to sell their player, who has more than three years remaining on his contract. For that reason, Saudi Arabia has been mooted as a possible destination, while Paris Saint-Germain is also understood to be interested.

Rashford was in a relationship with childhood sweetheart Lucia Loi for much of his time at United. The pair were together since they met in school and got engaged in May 2022 when Rashford announced he had popped the question.

However, around one year later, the couple confirmed they had called off their engagement and split up. The footballer was then understood to be seeing an unknown French woman but has more recently been linked with former Love Island contestant Grace Rosa Jackson.

The Sun reported earlier in December that the two celebs were seeing one another, with a friend saying: “Marcus and Grace have been quietly spending time together and he has whisked her on numerous dates around Cheshire. They get on really well and have lots in common.”

As if Rashford’s absence from Sunday’s squad against Manchester City wasn’t enough of a sign suggesting he could leave United, Ruben Amorim sent his own message to the player. It was reported that Rashford was sent home from training by his new boss the day after the win over City, shortly before he was omitted from the squad that lost at Tottenham on Thursday.

It was reported that Rashford’s expulsion was due to his high temperature after the team doctor assessed him. However, given this week’s developments, the timing of said illness seems a little too coincidental.

He then spent part of Tuesday handing out Christmas gifts to students at his old primary school. And it was there that he unexpectedly told journalist Henry Winter he was ready to take on a task away from the only club he’s played for.

“For me, personally, I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” he said. “When I leave it’s going to be no hard feelings. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me. I will always be a Red.”
