Jadon Sancho has lent his support to Marcus Rashford, amid the forward’s uncertain future at Manchester United.

Rashford admitted he wants to leave Old Trafford, with it also emerging the club are open to parting ways with their academy product who has featured more than 400 times for the Red Devils. New boss Ruben Amorim however has suggested he would like to keep the 27-year-old, despite leaving him out of his squad versus Manchester City.

The United striker, who has surpassed 20 goals three times in his career, has seen his abilities questioned as his next move is speculated over but has found defenders too. Ian Wright spoke openly about why he will not question the England international, in a week where United supporters unfurled a banner against their player.

“I got to Arsenal at 28, but you expect ME to write off someone with the ability Marcus [Rashford] has at 27!!!!,” Wright posted on a video posted on The Overlap’s Instagram page.

“So many of you are desperate to see these young people fail so that you can say you were right!”

ESPN posted their own graphic, encapsulating Wright’s view and Sancho provided his own take. The Chelsea loanee endured his own difficult period at Old Trafford following a public falling out with Erik ten ag.

It appears Sancho retains plenty of faith in Rashford however. The ex-Borussia Dortmund star commented on the news outlet’s post with two emojis. Sancho posted one ‘speaking’ emoji and a ‘100’ emoji as he suggested Wright was entirely correct.

After leaving Rashford out for the second match in succession, in Carabao Cup defeat to Tottenham, Amorim suggested he hoped all of his players were ready to rise to the challenge. “I think it’s right,” he said.

“We have here a new challenge. It’s a tough one, for me it’s the biggest challenge in football because we are in a difficult situation and I already said this is one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“This is a really new challenge and the biggest one. I really hope all my players are ready for this new challenge. No, [I haven’t spoken to Rashford] yet. It was yesterday, I gave the day off to the lads, so he’s our player and he’s ready for the next game.”

Speaking ahead of the Premer League match with Bournemouth, Amorim suggested that Rashford would once again have the opportunity to force his way back into the squad.

“No, no it’s the same thing guys. It will be the same thing,” he told reporters, providing assurance the decision was made on training performance rather than as a disciplinary measure.
