Daniel Dubois has backed Oleksandr Usyk to beat Tyson Fury again – although he hopes he’s wrong and the Gypsy King prevails.

The IBF heavyweight champion has flown into Riyadh to sit ringside for the WBA, WBO and WBC clash. Usyk, 37, became undisputed champion when he beat Fury back in May before giving up the IBF belt so Dubois could be made champion before he stopped Anthony Joshua in September. Now Dubois is more than an interested observer as he eyes undisputed home.

“Something in my heart tells me Usyk will pull it off again,” Dubois said. “As a fellow Brit I want Tyson to win, because of everything he has done in the game. You have to respect that. But something is telling me that Usyk is going to do it again. Usyk just has luck on his side and he has skills. He has the backing of his people and is fighting for his country.”

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are set to lock horns again on December 21 with the Brit attempting to avenge his defeat by the Ukrainian in May. Victory for Fury could also set up a huge domestic showdown with bitter rival Anthony Joshua next year

Usyk beat Dubois in August 2023 when he stopped the British challenger. But Dubois did have the Ukrainian on the canvas at one point as he caught him low in the fifth which sent him crashing to the floor. It was ruled a low blow, much to the anger of Dubois’ team before he was eventually stopped by Usyk in Poland. It was Dubois’ second career defeat after an earlier loss to Joe Joyce, when he was accused of quitting following the shattering of his eye socket.

He defends his IBF belt against Joseph Parker on February 22 but is eyeing up becoming the undisputed champion by beating Usyk and getting revenge. “I don’t want to mess around, I want to fight for the undisputed,” he said. “I want to fight this winner – that’s what I am here for. If you are good enough to protect your undefeated record, then good for you. But not everyone is good enough to copy Floyd Mayweather.

“My career and my path is suited for me, I love a comeback story, they’re always great. Whoever wins on Saturday, I am going to get in the ring and call them out. “I want to fight Usyk for revenge. I want to set that record straight. There’s a familiar story from our fight in Poland but I’ll fight Fury too, no problem.”
