Jamie Carragher was disappointed with Liverpool’s attacking threat during their draw with Arsenal.
Arne Slot’s side battled to a 2-2 stalemate at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Reds twice fought back in North London.
Bukayo Saka had given the Gunners the lead, before Virgil van Dijk ’s equaliser. Mikel Merino restored the home side’s lead, only for Mohamed Salah to score for a share of the points.
And while the Reds had plenty of battling spirit, ex-Liverpool star Carragher believes Slot’s side should have threatened their hosts more given their injury issues. Arsenal’s problems increased during the game with both Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Magalhaes taken off.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said: “I must say I was disappointed with Liverpool. When you think of the problems Arsenal had [with injuries] during the game then l would have expected them to create a lot more.”
And while Carragher claims that the Reds should have taken advantage of Arsenal’s injury woes, captain and goalscorer Van Dijk claimed that the Gunners still made it an extremely difficult game.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Dutchman said: “Another player injured? I think they only had two injuries today. Obviously they played a very, very strong team. It’s part of the game. We were obviously pushing and deservedly scored the equaliser.”
He added: “Listen, it’s a very tough place to come. They created a solid team and make it difficult for everyone. To come back twice is a good thing, we take the point and we move.

“You play here in London, they have the fans behind them and they created some momentum. You have to be ready to fight because you will have some tough moments. One point and we take it.”
The point leaves Liverpool sitting second in the Premier League and one point behind Manchester City – Pep Guardiola ’s side just managing to squeeze past Southampton on Saturday. Meanwhile, Arsenal are third and five points off of top spot.
Both the Reds and Gunners face a hectic few weeks heading into November. Mikel Arteta ’s side take on Preston, Newcastle, Inter Milan and Chelsea over the coming fortnight.
Liverpool also face a testing run of games that begins with a double header against Brighton. They then take on Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League before a home clash with Aston Villa.
