Jose Mourinho fluffed his knee slide as he ran onto the pitch to celebrate Fenerbahce’s 102nd minute winner on Sunday.

The Turkish outfit came from behind to see off Trabzonspor with Sofyan Amrabat, who spent last season on loan at Manchester United, scoring the winner with the clock into treble figures. Another former Red Devil in Fred had also contributed with a goal in their 3-2 win, as did former Manchester City man Edin Dzeko.

Amrabat’s stunning finish saw Mourinho produce the type of emotion and celebration that we’ve seen throughout his career. The Special One ran onto the turf after the winner and attempted to slide on his knees, only to lose his flow and hit the deck, before his staff bundled on top of him.

The win for Fenerbahce ensured they jumped back up into second spot – and means they remain within touching distance of rivals Galatasaray. The champions currently have a five point lead at the top.

Despite the euphoria of their last minute winner Mourinho decided to launch into a rant as he took aim at the on-pitch referee, suggesting that his team were on the wrong end of numerous decisions, while praising the VAR. He even claimed that, if he knew the officiating was so bad, he wouldn’t have become Fenerbahce boss.

He said: “The man of the match was Atilla Karaoglan. The invisible man. The referee on the field is just a child. Atilla Karaoglan is the man of the match. We don’t want to see him in our matches again. We don’t want him as a VAR either. We don’t want him on the field either. Before I came here, I was told a lot of things and I didn’t believe it. It was even worse.

He went on to add: “I speak on behalf of all Fenerbahce fans when I say this. That’s why we had a joyful celebration. We won against very, very strong people. We will not give up. I am angry with the Fenerbahce managers who brought me here, they told me half of this.

“If they told me the whole thing, I would not come to Fenerbahce. They told me half of the story before I came. If they told me the whole thing, I would not come if I knew.”

Fenerbahce have won four of their last six games in all competitions with Manchester United one of the teams who held them to a draw recently. Mourinho’s side are back into Europa League action this week before a weekend clash with Sivasspor, who sit sixth in Turkey.
