Kevin De Bruyne says his main focus is getting back to his best rather than talks over a new Manchester City deal.
The Belgian maestro, 33, is out of contract at the end of the season and has been tipped to leave the Premier League champions. His future hasn’t been decided, though, and he could yet pen an extension to stay in Manchester.
De Bruyne has missed several games this season with a hamstring issue but has started City’s last two matches, both of which they have won. And he was more interested in discussing his form than contract talks when he was quizzed about his future.
When he was asked about negotiations by Sky Sports after City’s thumping 4-1 win over West Ham, De Bruyne replied: “I don’t care.
“I am just trying to get back to my level. I feel like every week I’m getting better. Fitness wise I’m getting better and able to run 90 minutes now.
“It’s been an uncomfortable couple of months with the injury but I am getting better, performing better and better so that’s it.”
De Bruyne pulled the string for City in a match which saw two of City’s other big-hitters in Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both score, with the former bagging a brace.

City have now won successive games after an alarming run of form and goals for Haaland and Foden, plus another match for De Bruyne, could be an indicator that some of City’s most influential players are starting to hit their stride once again.
De Bruyne has consistently excelled for City during his nine years at the club but speculation over his future has been rife amid talk of interest from the United States.
The midfielder’s latest comments on his future come just 24 hours after Pep Guardiola said that talks over a contract extension with De Bruyne ‘wasn’t his business’. “He had problems in the last year and year and half, the Catalan coach said.
“But, of course, when he’s consistent and fit and when he can play regularly I said many times, he’s a really important player for us. A decisive player. But it’s going to happen for the club and how he’s going to perform until the end of the season, the age he is at and many things. I think the club has to think about it.”
