England have been hit by yet ANOTHER injury blow ahead of Lee Carsley ’s final game in charge.

The Three Lions squad was decimated by a number of pullouts ahead of the current international break. A number of stars including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka were among nine stars to return to their clubs.

England boss Carsley called up a number of uncapped players to cope – and one of those could be in line for his debut against Ireland after another exit from the camp. Aston Villa ’s Ezri Konsa was forced off in the 3-0 win against Greece and he has now returned to the Midlands for treatment, the FA have confirmed.

Speaking in Athens, Carsley said: “Ezri got a slight problem with his hip, so he will get a scan tomorrow. If there’s any kind of doubt he will go straight back to Aston Villa. He was actually OK just then, in terms of walking around and he’s in a good place.”

England have not announced any further additions to the squad, meaning that an uncapped star could receive an opportunity. Centre-backs Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Jarell Quansah are both included in the squad, with the duo yet to receive a senior cap for their nation.

Newcastle star Tino Livramento could also be an option at right-back – a move that could see Manchester City ’s Kyle Walker deputise in a central position. Fortunately, England have already had plenty of success with their uncapped stars this week.

Liverpool star Curtis Jones made his debut for the Three Lions against Greece, finding the net. And Carsley was full of praise for the midfielder after his standout showing.

Speaking after the game, the England interim boss said: “Curtis Jones is an outstanding player. He played really well, even without his goal. With his goal it was an excellent performance. People were speaking last night about the inexperience in the squad but these players are playing for their clubs at a really high level.”

Explaining his own emotions, Jones said: “If you’ve got a team like ours, like that, I can go high, I can come low, I can get on the ball, I can play. There’s lads there to help, there’s also lads who said I can go as well. Jude [Bellingham] stayed back and I saw I had a chance to go. That’s what I did and luckily enough I scored.

“The lads around helped as well. I just went out there, I was playing free, I had a smile on my face, I was enjoying it and I’m happy that I came away with a goal as well.”
