Liverpool fans put pressure on the club’s owners over Mohamed Salah‘s contract stalemate as they unveiled a banner urging chiefs to give in to his salary demands.

Salah looks no more likely to commit his future to the Reds after repeatedly insisting there had been no progress on a new contract, with his current deal expiring this summer.

The Egyptian revealed he was “far away” from agreeing fresh terms this week but continues to remain undistracted by the uncertainty after an incredible season that has seen him score 17 goals and assist 13 in the Premier League.

Salah isn’t the only Liverpool player who is on course to become a free agent at the end of the season, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk also on course to depart for nothing as things stand.

Liverpool fans made it clear they are desperate for all three players to prolong their careers at Anfield after unveiling a banner before their clash against Manchester United on Sunday, reading: “Give Mo and Co their dough.”

In the latest update on his future this week, Salah said: “So far, yes. It’s the last six months. There is no progress there. We are far away from any progress. So, we just need to wait and see.”

When asked how he has been able to stay so focused on his Liverpool duties despite lingering questions about his future, he added: “The thing in my head is that if this is the last six months, what do you want to see in the future?

“Do you want to look back and say I was concerned or stressed about the contract? Or do you just want to say I had an unbelievable season? That’s what is in my head.”

Mirror Football reported this week that Liverpool are more confident of tying Salah and Van Dijk down to new deals than Alexander-Arnold, who has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Madrid even tabled an offer for the 26-year-old that was rejected by the Reds and reports from the Times claim the La Liga side are prepared to spend £20m on the player rather than snap him up as a free agent in the summer.

Madrid are struggling at right-back after losing Dani Carvajal to a season-ending injury, with winger Lucas Vasquez filling in for him this season.
