Liverpool are set to meet with Federico Chiesa‘s agent in the coming days with the winger keen to head out on loan in January.

Chiesa, 27, was snapped up by the Reds late in the summer transfer window in a bargain deal from Juventus. But the Italy international has made just four appearances since then and speculation over his future has grown in recent weeks.

There have been rumblings that clubs in Serie A would love to take the Euro 2020 winner back to Italy – and it now seems that the player himself would be keen on a temporary switch, according to the latest reports from his home country.

Chiesa has no shortage of suitors in Serie A and is ‘trying in every way’ to leave Liverpool in the January transfer window, according to media reports in his homeland. It’s also claimed by Calciomercato that Liverpool are now ‘open’ to sanctioning a loan move.

Both Milan clubs, AS Roma and Napoli have all been touted as potential destinations for Chiesa, along with Atalanta, who are said to be keen on striking a loan agreement which would include the option to purchase the former Juventus man outright. It’s also outlined that the player’s agent, Fali Ramadani, is set to meet with Liverpool’s management in the coming days to take stock of the situation now the window is open.

While some fans have questioned the dearth of minutes given to Chiesa this season, Arne Slot has stressed on more than one occasion the player’s need to get up to speed physically. He also, however, admitted that Chiesa faces strong competition for a spot in Liverpool’s attack when he was asked about the winger recently.

“He definitely is [getting stronger],” the Dutchman said last month following Liverpool’s 6-3 thrashing of Tottenham.

“You see him on the pitch now, it means he’s getting stronger and better. He had to adapt for quite a long time. I’ve said so many times, as expected if you miss team training sessions for so long. And then you go to a league where the intensity is so high as well, and to a team who plays with a lot of intensity.

“He is getting stronger, but he’s also facing a lot of competition in the right-wing position!”
