A return to the England squad is Marcus Rashford’s priority when choosing his next club.

Rashford, 27, made headlines last month when he confirmed that he’s ‘ready’ to leave Manchester United. The forward hasn’t played a single minute for United since December 12, missing the next four games altogether before returning to the matchday squad against Newcastle.

But boss Ruben Amorim didn’t choose to bring him on as a substitute, despite the Red Devils falling to a dismal 2-0 defeat. Clubs interested in capitalising on his situation have wasted no time in pursuing Rashford, with three teams from Saudi Arabia making offers just two days into the January transfer window.

It’s understood that Rashford received three separate offers and had he accepted them, he’d be set to earn £675,000 per week. But at 27, Rashford isn’t ready to move to the Saudi Pro League yet.

Instead, Rashford will only move to a competitive league that gives him a platform to return to the England squad. The United want-away last played for his country in the 2022 World Cup quarter-final against France.

New England manager Thomas Tuchel is reportedly a fan of Rashford, having been linked with signing him when the German was in charge of Paris Saint-Germain. Tuchel officially began his role on Thursday but might not get the chance to watch Rashford in a United shirt if he departs this month.

Amorim insists that it’s always been his decision not to play Rashford and replied when asked why he didn’t bring him on when losing to Newcastle: “I think about the team. You [journalists] think a lot about Marcus. I think about the team. When I’m there I’m not making a point. I just want to win the game.

“And you can feel it – I’m talking about the idea and the fight for relegation. Do I want to make a point during a game? No, I just want to win the game.”

Amorim has previously suggested that it wasn’t Rashford’s idea to go public with his desire to leave his boyhood club. “Of course it is a hard situation,” the Red Devils boss told Sky Sports. “But I understand that this kind of player, they have a lot of people around them making some choices that are sometimes not the first idea from the player. So I understand, I can separate things. I am always here for helping Marcus as another player. And they have to do what they have to do.”
