Travis Kelce’s life was transformed when he formed a supercouple with Taylor Swift last year.

Dating the pop icon has made the Kansas City Chiefs star, 35, a figure known around the world. He and Swift have even been labelled “America’s very own royal couple”, such is their influence in the United States.

For many, the start of their romance was their first introduction to Kelce. But he’d already been an NFL regular for a decade, establishing himself as one of the greatest tight ends of all time.

The three-time Super Bowl champion had also built a reputation as something of a playboy. From intimate sex confessions to dating 50 women at once, here Mirror Sport look at his life before Swifty.

Losing virginity at 14

Kelce has never been tight-lipped when it comes to confessions about his private life. And none have been more shocking than his revelation about losing his virginity.

When asked how old he was when that happened, he admitted in 2016: “Fourteen – mommy didn’t hear that.”

Party animal

Kelce would go on to be quite the party animal at the University of Cincinnati. He made the most of his downtime when he wasn’t playing for their Bearcats football team.

In 2010, he returned positive for marijuana in a random drug test. He was kicked off the team and had his scholarship revoked before his older brother Jason intervened.

Jason convinced the Bearcats coaches to give him a second chance. The younger Kelce admitted to “partying my a** off” in a 2023 documentary.

Sex confessions

His womaniser ways continued after he was drafted by the Chiefs. He soon became a prominent figure on and off the football field and made one of his first TV appearances on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in 2016.

Kelce made multiple confessions about his preferences in the bedroom. He was asked by The Real Housewives of New York City star Ramona Singer what would put him off in a relationship.

When Singer suggested “a girl who won’t sleep with you after the third date”, he replied: “The third date? I feel like that’s the breaker right there. Three dates, that’s like a while… I don’t wanna say a deal-breaker, but it puts some questions in the air.”

Later in the conversation, Kelce suggested he wouldn’t date a partner who doesn’t give oral sex. “Ah… sounds like a dear old deal-breaker to me,” he said.

Dating 50 women

Kelce had been promoting the new reality show he starred in called ‘Catching Kelce’. The premise was him finding the love of his life by dating a woman from each of the 50 states.

He had just 60 seconds with each lady before reducing them to a group of 20 who all moved into a Los Angeles mansion together. Kelce ultimately had to decide who would be his future soulmate.

He picked Maya Benberry and they started dating after the show ended in April 2016. But it was short-lived, with Benberry confirming in January 2017 that they had broken up.

On-off relationship

After breaking up with Benberry, Kelce struck up a romance with social media influencer and broadcaster Kayla Nicole. They had an off-on relationship for five years between 2017 and 2022.

It was claimed one of the reasons they eventually parted ways was because Kelce insisted on splitting bills and made her pay her way. Nicole rubbished that on WNBA star Angel Reese’s Unapologetically Angel podcast.

She asked: “Do I look like I would go 50-50 on bills? So yeah, that was ridiculous. But he addressed that too though. I don’t even know why that became a thing. That was never an issue in our relationship, but it was definitely a rumour on the internet.”
