Tyson Fury‘s wife Paris told her husband ‘high blood pressure’ was the reason she couldn’t fly to Riyadh in May – as she suffered a miscarriage at home in the UK.
Paris, 35, was six months pregnant with the couple’s eighth child when she was told their unborn child had no heartbeat during a gender scan. This came the day before before her husband suffered the first defeat of his professional career, losing to Oleksandr Usyk via split decision.
In the build-up, though, it was one of the hardest decisions Paris ever to make – to suffer the heartbreaking agony of losing a child alone or tell her beloved husband and potentially risk completely destroying his undisputed dream. In the end, she chose to lie to Tyson.
“I had to make the decision, do I tell him? And I came to the conclusion that whatever was happening with me, I couldn’t change it. But I could change dramatically what was happening in his life,” Paris told the Mirror. “I made up a lie that I had high blood pressure. It was the only thing I could think of that would stop me from flying without having to give him the terrible news.”
Tyson was willing to send a private jet to fly his wife over to the Middle East. He later revealed he knew something was wrong when she refused but he “didn’t want to believe it”. Paris claimed she “knew there was a problem” during the gender scan when she could not see a heartbeat “flickering” on the screen. “The sonographer said to me, ‘I’m really sorry, Paris, there’s no heartbeat.’ I jumped up, started to cry, and said, ‘No, hold on, hold on. No, no, wait,’ and went all frantic”.
Paris was quick to praise the “exceptional” hospital staff who helped her give birth to her unborn son without being put to sleep. She eventually broke the news to Tyson when he arrived back in the United Kingdom following his loss to the Ukrainian.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are set to lock horns again on December 21 with the Brit attempting to avenge his defeat by the Ukrainian in May. Victory for Fury could also set up a huge domestic showdown with bitter rival Anthony Joshua next year
“At the time it feels like your world is ripped to pieces. But I know everyone can get through it. And what is so traumatic one day, becomes a memory. You know, you had that little piece of life, even if it’s such a short time.” She added: “Mentally I’m at ease with what went on. Physically, I’m OK.”
Paris insisted she would never miss another of her husband’s fights. Tyson is scheduled to go head-to-head with Usyk for a second time on Saturday night, with Paris set to be in attendance. “I said after the last fight, I’d never miss another one. I think there was just too much going on in his head last time,” she said. “And yeah, I think 100% he’ll be coming home with the belt.”
