Manchester City are aiming for back-to-back wins when they face West Ham United this afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s side earned a confidence-boosting victory over Leicester City last weekend, having won just once in 13 games before that. Man City’s dreadful run of form has resulted in the reigning champions dropping out of the Premier League title race, but facing West Ham offers Man City an opportunity to continue turning their season around.

West Ham had quietly improved under Julen Lopetegui before being mauled by Liverpool last time out. Unbeaten in four games prior to their clash with the Reds, the Hammers have moved up to 13th in the table, eight points clear of the relegation zone.

Man City could climb up to fifth, though they have only won once at home since October. Mirror Football brings you everything you need to know about the intriguing fixture, which will not be shown live on UK TV.

Why isn’t Man City vs West Ham on TV?

The match was not selected by either TNT Sport or Sky Sports. In its Saturday 12.30pm slot, TNT opted for Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United. Sky has chosen to show Brighton vs Arsenal this evening at 5:30pm, while Super Sunday is comprised of Fulham vs Ipswich Town (2pm) and Liverpool vs Manchester United (4.30pm). Wolves vs Nottingham Forest (8pm) will also be shown by Sky on Monday Night Football.

As Man City vs West Ham is a Saturday 3pm kick-off, it is not allowed to be shown on UK TV due to the blackout rule. This prohibits any live football from being broadcast between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on Saturdays.

Fans have increasingly pleaded for the rule to be amended as all Premier League games are widely available abroad. A Premier League spokesperson told Mirror Football last year that the rule is in place to “protect attendances throughout the English football pyramid”, and any rule change would also require consultation with the EFL.
